How did you say Thank You?

So now that National Volunteer Week is over, here’s a look at how some organizations thanked their awesome volunteers:

American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) sent a Thank You email to its volunteers expressing appreciation for their service. (Sometimes a small gesture speaks volumes.)

American Society of Association Executives & the Center for Association Leadership (ASAE)  sent a postcard with a handwritten note to their volunteers. (A personal touch such as this really resonates with volunteers)

ASPCApro.org made noise about their volunteers on their blog We Couldn’t Do It Without You… by sharing how their colleagues throughout the US showed their appreciation for their volunteers. (read more about making noise here)

Hagerstown Community College in MD announced it is naming the lobby of its athletic, recreation and community center after the very people who helped raise money for athletic scholarships – the volunteer corp. (An excellent way for an organization to show its volunteers that it knows it can’t do it without them).

Here at Mariner, we tweeted and blogged our thanks by naming names… Likewise, our clients used social media to publicly thank the dedication of these same volunteers.

And of course, YouTube is full of thank yous. Click here to see some of these videos and enjoy the many heartfelt messages to volunteers in all types of organizations.

So whether you used social media, email, snail mail, or named a lobby after your volunteers, showing your appreciation goes a long way. Now, let’s keep it going!
